On Monday 27 March the Social Work academic team were presented with a STAR award by Vice Chancellor, Professor Julia Buckingham at a ceremony and celebration lunch.

The award stands for 'Special Thanks And Recognition' and demonstrates the University's appreciation of staff members who have made an extra special effort to help make the University a better place. This award acknowledges the Social Work Division’s contribution to developing student satisfaction.

Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences, Professor Priscilla Harries, congratulated the team and commented, ‘The Social Work team have worked incredibly hard to enhance the quality and management of Social Work education at Brunel. Term 1’s YourView student feedback ranked Social Work as seventh across the University in terms of student satisfaction.’

Professor Julia Buckingham congratulated everyone, saying: “The Star Awards ceremony is one of the highlights of the year - a time when we celebrate the outstanding contributions of colleagues from across the University. Competition for these awards is always tough and this year was no exception. Many congratulations to our winners and a huge thank you for everything you do."
