Our research tackles core theoretical questions and engages with both the international research community and relevant groups across industry, government and the public. In Sociology we bring together theoretical and practical concerns, and develop fresh approaches to new and classic interdisciplinary themes and problems.

Sociology is the home of the internationally recognised Centre for Comedy Studies Research (CCSR), which sits within the Global Lives research centre.
These centres and groups promote international, interdisciplinary and high impact research by acting as key points of contact between academics, practitioners and the wider community.
