About Katie
Katie grew up in Surrey before moving to the area near to Brunel University to complete her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. She holds a BA in Psychology and Social Anthropology and an MA in Special Needs Education where her dissertation research was focused on the management of sexuality with young adults who have intellectual disabilities. After a period working in a school for children with special needs, Katie successfully applied for a studentship and is currently in the final stages of PhD study under the supervision of Professor Celia Brackenridge, Dr Pam Alldred and Professor Ian Rivers. The Football Association (FA) has part-funded Katie's research in an effort to inform the development of anti-homophobia policies.
In her spare time, Katie is a singer-songwriter and performs her music in and around London.

- The perceived difference between banter and bullying in football particularly that relating to sexual orientation;
- The power dynamics at work in discourses of sexual identity.
