About Razan

Razan begun her PhD studies in January 2010 and is researching the role of internet assisted tools in promoting participation in physical activity amongst youths in Saudi Arabia.  Razan is conducting her research under the supervision of Dr Vassil Girginov and Dr Laura Hills.

In 2004, Razan was awarded an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Linguistics from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.  After leaving University she joined the Arab News Newspaper covering sports, social and cultural events, an activity she now combines with her PhD studies.  Razan returned to University in 2008 and she went on to successfully complete a Masters degree in International Journalism at the City University in London.

Outside of her research, in 2011, Razan helped to form Brunel's Arab Society and was appointed the Media Coordinator for the newly formed Arab Olympic Academy Committee which focuses on sport development in the Arab world through sport sciences.  She is also the coordinator for the Saudi Journalists Club in the UK (SJCUK), a role she assumed in 2010.
