Alison McConnell, Professor of Applied Physiology, has been invited to the House of Commons for the launch of a new report by The Research Councils UK, British Universities & Colleges Sport and Universities UK entitled “University Research, Sports Development and the Olympics”. The aim of this report is to increase public awareness of the wide and varied role of the UK’s universities and forms part of UK’s Universities Week 2012. Brunel submitted a case study based upon Alison’s research with the POWERbreathe® range of products. The POWERbreathe® story was selected for inclusion in the report, against stiff competition from a number of other universities. Key factors contributing to selection were the sustained economic and social impacts that this research has made in both sport and medicine.
