Frontiers in Sport & Exercise Science & Medicine Research Seminar Series
The Centre for Sports Medicine & Human Performance has launched the 'Frontiers in Sport and Exercise Science and Medicine' research seminar series to address fundamental questions in the fields of cardiovascular and respiratory physiology, biomechanics and psychology of sport and exercise.
Prof José González-Alonso, Director of the research centre, said “the aim of the seminar series is to highlight some of the fundamental questions that need to be answered to advance out current understanding of the functioning of the human body during exercise.” The first seminar will discuss the mechanisms of cardiovascular control in the resting and exercising human and features internationally recognised experts in the area discussing their most recent cutting edge research. A primary focus of the discussion will be on the mechanisms coupling active muscle blood flow and cardiac function in the exercising human.
