Brunel anthropologist Dr Melissa Parker and LSE's Tim Allen presented their research into the administration of tropical disease drug programmes in the developing world to an all-party Parliamentary Committee last month.

The research, which suggests that competition for multi-million pound grants to tackle debilitating parasitic diseases means that serious concerns about whether current drug programmes actually work are being side-lined, was originally published in the Lancet in Janaury 2012. Read the full article in Brunel's news archive.

The findings have also been discussed in the House of Lords as part of a short debate on malaria and neglected tropical diseases.

Dr Parker is Director of Brunel's Centre for Research in International Medical Anthropology.
