PhD candidate – Social Anthropology
About FedericaIn 2007 I obtained my BA (laurea) summa cum laude at University of Bologna (Italy) with a dissertation focused on the movements in favour of Eating Disorders (ED) under the supervision of Dr. Ivo Quaranta.
In the same year I have been admitted at Collegio Superiore, school of excellence of University of Bologna, whose aim is to yearly select few students with outstanding profiles. In 2008 I have attended Ecole Normale Superieure and Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris) as visiting student under the supervision of Prof. Eric Fassin and Prof. Didier Fassin. In 2009 I have organised and conducted intensive fieldwork in Rwanda on the healing role of memory in post-genocide environment, which brought me to graduate cum laude (MA, laurea specialistica) the following year with a dissertation supervised by Dr. Ivo Quaranta and Dr. Luca Jourdan. I presented the outcomes of this research at the Biennial Conference of the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA) hosted at the National University of Ireland Maynooth (IE) in the plenary session Young Scholars Forum, showcase of emerging talents.Currently, I am conducting fieldwork in Rwanda under the supervision of Dr. Nicolas Argenti and Dr. Melissa Parker. My research aims to investigate and analyse how the genocide has influenced funerary practises, the perception of the dead and the way people cope with feelings of loss and mourning.
