One of the ‘Bannerman Babes’ Paul began his long association with Brunel in 1980 in the School of Biological Sciences as a trainee lab technician. Special Engineering Programme (Electronics) and Production Technology (Robotics) followed before joining the fledgling Department of Human Sciences in 1988 as Senior Technician (Psychology). Promotion to Chief Technician was soon followed by that of Departmental Superintendent in 1993. Professional recognition came in 2001 with the appointment as Academic Resource Manager.
Reporting to the Director Of Operations responsibilities range from strategic planning, financial control and policy development through to space acquisition and utilisation, purchasing and procurement to the provision of technical support staff and services.
Outside Brunel
Paul’s community spirit has seen him hold various roles in local junior and (not so local) youth and adult football: including manager, coach, scout, child protection officer, vice-chairman, trustee and life-vice president, FA referee.
Aside from football the great outdoors feature heavily for all the family particularly walking, wild-camping, nature conservation and preservation, bird-watching, photography, motor-homing and spur-of-the-moment travel.
