Prof. Diaz Pont from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona visits Brunel

within the framework of our P&H Erasmus exchange programme with the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Prof. Joana Diaz Pont will be visiting Brunel University between the 4th and the 8th of June.

Prof. Diaz Pont holds a PhD in Sociology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 2007), degrees in Chemical Sciences (University of Barcelona, 1993) and Sociology (UNED, 2004), a Master in Business Administration (Catalan Institute of Technology, 1999) and a Master in Risk Communication (Washington University, 1995). She is currently associate professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and consultant on sustainability, social communication and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Her current projects include a study on local television and its role in promoting public participation, coordination of an international knowledge network on communication, democratic principles and civil society, coordination of the AGBAR Chair of Business and Sustainable Development. Past projects include a study on micro enterprises and CSR micro actions and a study of environmental communication models in Europe for the European Environment Agency.

She started her professional activity in the fields of water chemistry and environmental impact assessment to later specialise in environmental communication. She worked at the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC. She is consultant for multinational firms and public agencies in Catalonia, and for the UNIS (United Nations Information System).

She is co-author of the books Environmental Education and the Media. David against Goliath (2003, Editorial Graó) and Sustainability. Economy, Business and Society (2001, Beta editorial). Writes regularly for specialised magazines and is member of three editorial teams.
