BCISS staff are available for a range of advisory and consultancy functions, both to government and to the private sector. At the moment, BCISS are engaged as partners to several significant endeavours of the British Ministry of Defence. Significantly, BCISS partnered with the MOD's Development, Doctrine and Concepts Centre (DCDC) in the project to produce an updated Joint Intelligence Doctrine for the MOD. BCISS is also engaged on the Counter-IED Working Group managed by the Government Chief Scientific Advisor and the MOD's Chief Scientific Advisor. Both Dr. Davies and Dr. Gustafson work with Global Security Limited providing bespoke academic packages on security courses offered to a variety of professional and corporate clients from around the world.
In 2002 Dr. Davies organised and delivered an intensive staff training programme for the Malaysian Government's Department of Information. As part of its EuroJIC project, BCISS has produced a series of influential papers on European counter-terrorism policy.
Dr. Gustafson works with Headquarters, Land Warfare Centre of the British Army in developing new doctrine for training. During the public debates concerning the publication of the Hutton report Dr. Davies was called upon frequently to comment upon intelligence and issues relating to the inquiry and its report by organisations such as BBC World, BBC News 24, the Channel 4 News, Sky TV and has been interviewed by newspapers in the UK and abroad.
Dr. Davies has appeared on TV numerous times, most recently in a production reviewing the findings of the Diana Inquiry. Dr. Gustafson has appeared on BBC News 24, as well as on several specialist TV productions on military doctrine and weapons. In the US he has appeared on XM Satellite Radio on the John Batchelor Show, and in the UK and worldwide television on the Islam Channel.
Drs. Davies and Gustafson are able to speak authoritatively about current important issues dealing with UK security and intelligence, and with similar issues on a global scale. Dr. Gustafson maintains an additional expertise on US security and intelligence issues.
