Department: Department of Life Sciences
College: College of Health and Life Sciences
I chose Brunel because it offered this unique course combination between Sports and Business. With the Olympic Games around the corner and exciting working and volunteering opportunities, I was ready to move away from home (Germany). The closeness to Heathrow airport was an additional benefit.
The teaching level is of a high standard and this course particularly embraces new concepts in society eg from the Olympics’ legacy impact to our global knowledge-based economy. I love the diversity of my course – from sport law to self-produced film productions on controversial issues in sport. I did a placement at the Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation UK in Central London, volunteered as Sport Administrator for Park Run Slough and volunteered during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London 2012.
I worked as Senior Residences Mentor at Brunel University during my second year. I was a Brunel Hawks volleyball player and I took full advantage of the Art Centre’s classes from pottery and choir to acting, I did all of them!
My placement was at Roxy/Quiksilver at their European Headquarters in St Jean de Luz, France, in the Creative Marketing Department. I helped advertise and create an online presence for the Spring/Summer 2013 Bikini collection of Roxy!
