Liam Walpole

Since coming to Brunel in 2011, I have become actively involved in areas that I never believed I would. I was elected as a Brunel Assembly member two years running and was elected as a Student Trustee for the 2012/13 academic year. I have a passion for improving the student experience here at Brunel, getting involved and being proactive with student life.

I was part of the Student Council when we campaigned for a better understanding between Brunel and Hillingdon Council, which has now come on leaps and bounds with a dedicated Community Officer role now in place in the Brunel Union.

Beyond my part played in student politics, I have also been elected as President of the Politics Society at Brunel, which aims to serve as a platform for politics students to engage with like-minded people. It also offers new students a means to liaise with staff and discuss any issues they may have.

Above all, Brunel gave me the opportunity to undertake a placement where I worked for an MP for a year – a highly life-changing experience, and I am now ten times more prepared for work when I graduate.
