I chose engineering because I wanted to do something practical as I’d always been good with my hands and loved science at school.

Maths was by far my best subject and that led me to computing. I also wanted to do something that would provide solutions to some world problems. I’ve a particular interest in looking at ways of providing more computing resource in developing countries but also a passion for computer security. My PhD research combines both. The course is demanding – in every aspect!

I chose to pursue computer engineering because its scope is virtually limitless; computers are so fundamental to modern life.
