I knew that at the end of my time at university, I wanted my degree and experience in the field. I was lucky enough to be accepted at Brunel, where placements are highly encouraged and the University have their own Professional Development Centre, who can help with everything from improving my CV to interview practice.

I am currently undertaking a placement with the Scrutiny Unit DDCS (House of Commons) within the Environmental Audit committee. I am developing a range of essential skills and knowledge related to my course. I also have the opportunity to network within the House of Commons. I recently met a Brunel alumnus who also carried out a placement, graduated and is now a Lord. He really encouraged me to make the most out of my placement as he believes it contributed to where he is now.

Looking to the future, I am eager to go back to university and apply knowledge to my final year assignments and dissertation. I will have real-life examples to make reference to and this will also be useful when I start to apply for graduate jobs.
