When arriving at Brunel I was welcomed by an eager, friendly and quirky bunch of ‘contacts’. They saw me through Freshers’ Week, which set the pace for the next four years . . . work hard, play harder!

I left each lecture in the first few months completely bamboozled by Java this and SQL that, but with a bit of hard work I got it.

The second year flew by and before I knew it I was applying for placements. I took a position as a User Experience Designer at LexisNexis. Completing my placement was the best thing I have ever done – I learnt so much, and was finally able to put my theoretical knowledge into practice.

My final year was a big challenge but Brunel really came through for me – the workload was intense but I had a great team of professors and a great dissertation tutor. I truly believe that if it wasn’t for their knowledge, support and dedication I would not have achieved my First Class honours.

After graduating I was offered a position at LexisNexis where I have continued to develop the skills obtained at Brunel. LexisNexis have since given me the opportunity to work in their Sydney office!
