Department: Department of Politics, History and the Brunel Law School
College: College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences
Choosing to study Law at Brunel really was a fantastic decision. The course is interesting and challenging and I have enjoyed every moment of it so far. The Law School constantly provide you with support and guidance and are with you every step of the way of your academic journey, always motivating you to perform to the best of your abilities. I find that the enthusiasm that radiates from academic staff and other students fuels your own enthusiasm, passion and commitment to succeeding in the legal sphere.
Currently, most second year students are applying for placements (myself included) which we will commence next year before coming back to complete our final year of university. The choices we have are vast and although applications to large firms and companies may seem very daunting at first, the Placement and Careers Centre combined with the Law School give you all the support you need to submit successful applications and to perform successfully at interviews.
Additionally, I am a committee member of the Brunel Law Society which is absolutely wonderful – we’re like a little law family. We organise networking events throughout the year as well as competitions, socials and extra-curricular activities encompassing mooting, debating and pro-bono. These events have only enhanced my experiences at Brunel; whether it’s a trip to Inner Temple or drinks in the House of Commons each event builds your confidence when talking to working professionals and allows you to acquire the skills you need to succeed in the future. Furthermore, they really are exceptionally fun! I will be eternally grateful to Brunel and the Law School for my university experience, I could not in a million years have asked for more!
