About Paolo

Laurea in Medicinal Chemistry, Univerista’ di Pavia 2000.

PhD in Chemistry, University of Sheffield 2003

Post-Doc: Universitat van Amsterdam (UvA) 2003-2005

The University of Manchester 2005-2007

Research

Research Interests

Nanoparticles, nanophosphors, OLEDs, copper complexes.

Research Activity

Current lines of research include new luminescent materials for sustainable organic light emitting devices. Copper in particular is under intense scrutiny in my group as a possible alternative to the well established Iridium triplet emitters.

Light emitting nanoparticles is a further line of research which is gaining rapid momentum. We are particularly interested in stable nanophosphors functionalised for attachment to biological substrates, such as polypeptides (enzymes and antibodies in particular), as well as nanoparticles compatible with processable polymers.

Teaching

Materials and Manufacturing lectures, in module ME 2601, Degree course in Mechanical Engineering.

Guest Lecturer in Materials in module DM 1602, degree course in Design.
