Nanopolymers, sustainable composite materials.
Research Activity
Prof Tarverdi has extensive experience and expertise in developing and using sustainable composites for packaging including recycled composites and the use of nano materials to enhance properties of polymer based materials. Prof Tarverdi is involved in many UK Government (TSB, DEFRA, EPSRC) and European Union (FP) funded projects and has been in the forefront of developing and exploitation of continuous extrusion blending technology for the manufacture of composites. He has many patents and published over 70 papers in compound and machine development for the manufacture and assessment of sustainable composites. He lectures to MSc Students on Advanced Materials Processing, including processing and use of Biodegradable and nanocomposites, and is a consultant and trouble shooter for many companies involved with polymer processing and fabrication.
