Xiaohui directs the University Research Centre for Intelligent Data Analysis (CIDA) conducting interdisciplinary research involving artificial intelligence, dynamic systems, human-computer interaction, image and signal processing, and statistical pattern recognition. He is working with talented life, clinical and physical scientists on a variety of challenging data analysis problems, including those in biology, finance, medicine and security. Professor Liu was the founding chair of the international symposia on Intelligent Data Analysis (see the conference report), an interdisciplinary study concerned with the effective analysis of data. His work has been funded by UK research councils (e.g. BBSRC, EPSRC), EU, government agencies (e.g. MoD, NHS), charities (e.g. Moorfields Eye Hospital, Wellcome Trust), and industry (e.g. GlaxoSmithKline, Honeywell). He has also advised funding agencies on interdisciplinary research programmes and served on grant panels of research councils in the UK, including the BBSRC, EPSRC and NERC. |

In collaboration with
many talented researchers, Xiaohui has published more
than 200 papers, over 100 of which are in high-quality journals (H index >
30 on the Web of Science). He has also given many invited talks, including a
keynote at the International Conference of the Royal Statistical Society. Below
