Elizabeth Flint

Elizabeth Flint has been appointed to the new role of Chief Business and Innovation Officer at Brunel.

A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Liz was recently employed as Chief Operating Officer at Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult, an organisation focused on accelerating UK economic growth in related industries.

Before that she held several high-profile roles at Innovate UK, among them Head of Cities and Regions and Head of Innovation Networks; and Aberystwyth University, where she was Director of Commercialisation and Consultancy Services.

Liz will start at Brunel in December, reporting to Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Julia Buckingham, alongside COO Paul Thomas, Provost Professor Rebecca Lingwood and Chief Finance Officer Andrew Murphy. Her role will include working with areas across the University to develop a new strategy for engaging and developing partnerships with businesses, the third sector and government organisations in order to support our teaching and research objectives.

Prof Buckingham said: “Collaboration is key to everything we do at Brunel and so I’m delighted to announce this new role and to welcome Liz, whose knowledge and experience of developing innovative partnerships across organisations is vast.”

Liz added: “I was hugely impressed by Brunel’s ambitions to further develop and enhance its relationships with industry and within its region. These partnerships are so vital to the work that universities do, and Brunel can lead the way.”
