2019 Telephone Fundraising Campaign
We are excited to be close to launching our 2019 Annual Giving Fundraising appeal which will take place between Sunday 26 May and Saturday 22 June.
Our telephone campaign isn’t just about fundraising, it’s also a great way for us to stay in touch with our alumni and build long-term relationships with our graduates.
How it works
Each year we select alumni to contact. To make sure that the alumni we would like to talk to know about the campaign we will send out a letter or email from us with information and also ways to opt out of the campaign prior to the call. If you receive our letter and would prefer not to receive a call, or if you know that you would not want to be included in the campaign, please contact email@example.com and let us know, quoting your Brunel ID number if you know it.
We talk to as wide a range of people as possible. Whether our alumni are senior managers, just starting out in their profession or are now retired, they all share one thing in common – they all studied at Brunel.
Our team of student callers uses that common ground to start a conversation and encourage our alumni to give. We know that there are different levels of financial support our alumni can offer, which is why we value every gift, no matter the amount. We know that not everybody we speak to is able to donate when we call, but our students still value the opportunity to talk to our alumni about their time at university.

Students will be calling during the evenings and at weekends and we do hope you will be able to take the time to share some memories of your time at Brunel, offer advice and help us plan for the future.
Every person who gives receives a thank-you card, a donor newsletter and updates on the impact of their gift.
What are we raising money for in 2019?
In 2019 we have two areas of focus:
Our long-term focus is to support the Brunel Scholarships Fund. Higher Education is expensive, but also increasingly important for young people across the country. Alumni support allows us to provide scholarships, bursaries, awards, help for students in financial difficulty and enhance their experience at Brunel. The gift of education is one of the most precious that we can give to the next generation and it is this which the Brunel Scholarships Fund helps to provide.
We are also very excited to be launching a new Global Opportunities Fund for students in 2019-20 and are making this a centrepiece of the campaign. The Global Opportunities Fund brings together in one place all that Brunel does to support students in getting valuable overseas experience – which evidence shows has a huge effect on the lives of those who are able to undertake it. We want to ensure that this is available to all our students, not just those who are better off and so we have pledged to introduce this new fund as part of the Universities UK International Go International: Stand Out campaign: https://www.universitiesuk.ac.uk/International/go-international/stand-out
We are thrilled to say that the Vice-Chancellor has committed to matching funds received towards this initiative, one-to-one up to £50,000, so please do support it if you can.
