Doing a placement provides the tools necessary for students to develop both academically and professionally. The transferable skills students gain whilst on placement improves their overall academic performance. Salaries for placements vary but can range from £16,000 to £22,000 per annum.
Enhance your employability
During the year on placement, students are able to grow their professional network. This provides students with the stepping stone to securing a job after completing their degree. According to the Telegraph ‘36 per cent of students completing a work experience placement had received at least one definite job offer by the Easter of their final year compared with just 11 per cent of other undergraduates’. Placement year also counts towards the professional development of students as competent Engineers which is the stepping stone towards Chartership.
