Isambard Complex

Isambard Complex

2008 saw the completion of a spectacular new residential complex set in landscaped grounds on the west side of the campus. This provides 1,188 en suite rooms, 40 specially adapted rooms, and 112 studio flats for couples. The accommodation is divided into 17 blocks.

The radiator valves are electronically controlled. They will detect an empty  room thus lowering the radiator temperature. When the room is  occupied it will raise the temperature.

A gas fired Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) consists of a gas engine driving a generator. The electricity generated can either be used in the building or exported to the grid. As a  by-product water heated by the engine is used to heat the building.
