Self-isolation guidance

If you are arriving from a country that requires you to self isolate for 10 days, you can move into a room on campus when you arrive. 

You will need to let us know by completing this form as soon as possible. Please keep checking for updates up to the time of your departure as your country's classification may change at any time. It is important that you fill in the form immediately to let us know if you need to self-isolate.

What should I do before I arrive?

It is important that you read the UK Government guidance. You will need to let us know that you need to self-siolate by completing this form.


Where will I stay during self-isolation on campus?

If you have booked a campus room, you will be able to move into an ensuite room on campus. Please note we are unable to guarantee that you will be offered your next session room for your self-isolation period as this is subject to availability.

Where do I collect my room key from?

You can collect the keys to your accommodation from the Student Living Office at Concourse Hall from:

  • Monday – Friday:     8.00am until 8.00pm
  • Saturday – Sunday: 10:00am until 6:00pm

After this time, keys will be available at the Security Office, Wilfred Brown Building.

What services are provided during on campus self-isolation

We will supply you with additional cleaning materials so that you are able to maintain the cleanliness of your flat during self-isolation. Student Living will collect rubbish bags; however, these will need to be deposited outside your flat front door as they cannot be collected from within your flat.

We can exchange your linen whilst you are in self-isolation. Please report this via the Planon app. Please select “Furniture Fault Request” and state “Linen Change” in the comments. Linen will be delivered outside your flat door. Please return the used linen once you have completed your self-isolation.

Where can I order food from whilst self-isolating on campus

You can order meals directly from the UniFoodHub app, all food must be ordered by 2pm for next day delivery.

You can download the UniFoodHub app via the the App Store or Play StoreYou can do a Click and Collect Order and/or Delivery Service (50p Delivery Fee). UniFoodHub deliver to anywhere on campus!

You can order essential items and food from the Costcutter store on campus using the  Snappy Shopper  app for delivery to your halls of residence within 30 – 60 minutes. Type in the postcode UB8 3PH and select Costcutter Brunel University London. 

 What will I be able to do whilst in self-isolation?

It will be your responsibility to ensure you follow the government guidelines outlined here.

In England, you can only leave your accommodation for the following:

  • you need urgent medical assistance (or where your doctor has advised you to get medical assistance)
  • you need access to basic necessities like food and medicines, but only in exceptional circumstances such as where you cannot arrange for these to be delivered
  • you need to access critical public services such as social services and victim support services, but only in exceptional circumstances
  • you need to go to the funeral of a family member of someone you live with
  • you need to visit a dying or critically ill family member or someone you live with
  • you need to fulfil a legal obligation such as participate in legal proceedings
  • there’s an emergency such as a fire alarm

 What happens at the end of the self-isolation period?

As long as you are show no symptoms of Covid-19 at the end of your self isolation period you no longer need to self isolate.

If you develop COVID-19 symptoms again at any point, follow this guidance on self-isolation again and notify the University via the reporting task on your eVision portal.
