Manage your finances

Managing your finances is an important part of preparing for university.

You could be eligible for funding to finance your studies. Find out more about student finance and if you think you're eligible, apply here. If you are taking out a student loan to cover your living costs and tuition fees, make sure you submit an application and update your university choice before you arrive.

Financial advice and budgeting

Budgeting skills are really important as you begin your student journey, especially if you have never been on your own or managed a household budget.

We have also teamed up with Blackbullion, an online money advice and guidance service to help you learn about taxes, savings, and other aspects of money management. You can use their free budget calculator and student loan repayment estimator. You can register for Blackbullion for free, using your Brunel email address.

If you need help or advice about money throughout your time at university, the Advice and Representation Centre based in the Hamilton Centre can assist with any financial queries and funding information. You can read more about the Advice Centre's support offer here.

Other resources

There are lots of other resources to help, including guides from Money Saving ExpertUCAS and Save the Student, as well as information on how to get value for money from the Office for Students.
