International Orientation Programme 2018

Need help?   +44 189 5267045

As an international student you will be invited to attend our three-day International Orientation Programme on Friday 14 - Sunday 16 September 2018 (REGISTRATION FOR THE INTERNATIONAL ORIENTATION PROGRAMME IS NOW CLOSED).

If you are unable to attend the International Orientation Programme - don't worry! We have a catch-up session on Friday 21 September from 10:00-13:00, this will appear on your Welcome Week Timetable and there is no need to book on this session in advance. If you have attended the International Orientation Programme, you do not need to attend the catch-up session.

This programme is an excellent way for you to become part of our thriving student community and gain all of the information you need to start successfully at Brunel. We can even meet you at the airport via our Airport Welcome Service to help you get to campus and your room as quickly as possible.

Read more information on the Airport Welcome Service here

We offer a free Airport Welcome Service on Thursday 13 September and Sunday 16 September at Heathrow Airport (only) for new EU/International students. The deadline to book this service is Monday 3 September 2018, 12noon GMT.

How the Airport Welcome Service works:

  1. Meet our friendly International Ambassadors in the arrivals area of Heathrow Terminal 2 – look out for their sign and their blue t-shirts.

  2. Our International Ambassadors will give you an International Orientation Programme mini-guide and attach a sticker to the back that tells you (and your taxi driver) where to drop you off at Brunel.

  3. Your taxi driver will meet you at the Brunel Welcome point (Heathrow Terminal 2 arrivals) and then escort you to their car. The taxi ride itself will be short and there is no cost to you as long as you have signed up for the Heathrow Airport Welcome Service above.

  4. You will be dropped off at the Brunel campus and will be met by International Ambassadors to help you move in.

Important information: The Airport Welcome Service is only available from 07:00-19:00. Outside of these times, you will need to make your own way to campus and gain access to your room by visiting Security located in the Wilfred Brown Building.

Our International Orientation Programme is free for all non-UK students and takes place prior to the start of the academic year. It is a great opportunity for you to meet fellow students, enrol onto your course early and to prepare for life in the UK.

You will also be invited to a range of social events, a daytime London bus tour (capacity limited, additional fee applies) as well as walking tours of the campus and Uxbridge; helping you to familiarise yourself with University, the local area and your new home.

To help ease your transition, the International Orientation Programme also provides breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday 14 September and breakfast on Saturday 15 September, giving you time to settle in before you have to get shopping and cooking.

Free for International, EU and Exchange Students. All you need to pay for are the extra nights in accommodation.

If you have been allocated a room on campus please let our accommodation team know you will be arriving early. There will be an extra charge for your additional nights’ stay.

Pre-sessional Students

If you are currently studying on a pre-sessional course at Brunel University London, unfortunately you are not eligible to register for our International Student Orientation Programme. But don’t worry – it’s almost the same as the orientation you had when you first arrived (campus and Uxbridge tours, registration, etc.).

Foundation and Pre-Master’s students

If you are arriving in September to study a Foundation or Pre-Master’s course, the London Brunel International College (LBIC) will be running a separate orientation. Click here for more information.
