The Division of Social Work and the Centre for Comedy Studies Research I am delighted to invite you to a special event to mark World Social Work Day on Tuesday 21st March here at Brunel at 4.30pm – COMEDY AND CARE: The Funny Side of Social.
Jo Brand (Brunel Alumni, Ambassador for the Centre for Comedy Studies Research and Creator of the Channel 4 sitcom Damned) will join a panel of experts and practitioners including, Peter Berresford OBE (Emeritus Professor of Social Policy at Brunel University London), Dr Stephen Jordan (University of Essex) and Harry Venning (Creator of Radio 4 sitcom and Guardian comic Claire in the Community). The panel will explore media portrayal of social work and the role and function of comedy in shaping discussions surrounding social. There will be plenty of time for questions from the audience. The talk will be followed by refreshments and networking.
Do hope you will join us for what promises to be an interesting and fun(ny) session – and do stay on afterwards for networking and refreshment!
