Void by Jane Chan & You Are OKAY! by Sung Im Her
Brunel University London hosta an evening of solo dance works by East Asian women.
Void – Jane Chan
Void is a solo dance piece inspired by Jane’s late grandmother who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and the older adults she met through dance projects in community and hospital settings. Confronted by constraints of the body and mind, Void explores freedom within a lack of means. Void reveals the beauty and brutality of human life.
You Are OKAY! = Sung Im Her
You Are OKAY! stems from Sung Im Her's research interviews with Korean miners who have been living in the Rhine region of Germany for over 40 years, asking how and whether they perceive they have integrated into German society. You Are OKAY! stems from this research combined with the Korean song form Pansori, exploring the notion of a displaced body in a foreign society
General admission to the event is priced at £8 with discounts for students and concessions. Brunel Arts Members are invited to attend for free.
