Webinar: Challenges and opportunities to conducting physical activity and sedentary behaviour research during COVID

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented a myriad of challenges and opportunities to the physical activity researcher. This talk will provide an overview of the opportunities and outcomes from data science and epidemiology focused research, along with the challenges to in-person research and the need to develop remote testing and training platforms.

Professor Tom Yates is an academic within the Diabetes Research Centre, University of Leicester, UK. He completed his PhD in 2008 at Loughborough University. He works across a broad portfolio of physical activity research from early phase experimental research through to implementing diabetes prevention lifestyle programmes within routine primary care. Prof Yates is also a core member of the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre where ongoing research is investigating how physical activity and reduced sedentary behaviour can be used as a therapy in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease. Dr Yates has published over 150 articles and holds several prestigious research grants.
