Brunel will become a hot house for games development as part of a new competition to produce dynamic designers of the future.

The university has been chosen to house the London hub of a new talent development programme, Tranzfuser, set up by the UK Games Talent and Finance CIC and funded by the government.

As one of 10 such hubs throughout the country, it will place Brunel at the very centre of the scheme, which is aimed at graduates looking to break into the games development industry, with a strong focus on getting their game to market.

Senior Lecturer in Games Design at Brunel University London, Justin Parsler, said: “It’s an honour to be selected for such an important and innovative programme, reflecting on the university’s great success in creating tomorrow’s talent in the games industry. This is about giving graduates a dynamic environment and access to the best support available so that they can kickstart their dream career.”

The Brunel hub will act as a working space for teams of budding designers for 10 weeks in the summer.

Successful applicants will be given £5,000 to develop their ideas with support from mentors and industry, before being part of a showcase event in September where teams will be able to pitch for further funding of up to £25,000 from the UK Games Fund, to commercialise their games.
