Students celebrate the Hillingdon community in 50 ways

Students at Good Deed Day 2016

Students celebrated Brunel University London’s 50th anniversary year by performing 50 Good Deeds in the local community.

The third annual Good Deeds Day, complete with its anniversary twist, was all about recognising the people of Hillingdon in their support of the university during the past half-century.

More than 145 students from Brunel and Uxbridge College joined up with a number of charities to offer everything from free manicures to lunch, and took part in activities such as litter picking and bag packing in local supermarkets.

Professor Dany Nobus, pro-vice chancellor for external affairs at Brunel, said: “The annual Good Deeds Day brings together volunteers from Brunel University London, local schools and various charitable organisations to celebrate essential community values such as mutual support, human kindness and positive regard.

“It is a terrific way for us to show how much we appreciate the people of Hillingdon, and since it’s our 50th anniversary this year we will do whatever we can to ensure that the local community can share in our celebratory spirit.”

The events were organised in partnership with The Pavilions and Uxbridge Forward.
