Statement of Service (Careers)
Our aim is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where students and recent graduates can receive impartial one-to-one advice and guidance from professionally accredited careers consultants.
Who can use our Careers service?
- All current full-time, part-time or distance learning undergraduate or postgraduate students
- Alumni who graduated from Brunel within the last three years
What you can expect from us
Impartial, high quality, professional advice
Our advice and guidance is always impartial and in the best interests of each student. All our careers consultants have a nationally recognised careers guidance qualification and we continuously update our knowledge and skills to provide you with the latest employment information and advice. We are members of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) and uphold their codes of best practice in graduate recruitment.
Appointments are confidential and take place in a private room. At exceptionally busy times of year, appointments may take place in an open booth in the PDC with the student’s consent. Students and graduates can feel confident in discussing any aspect of their career or student experience in the knowledge that we will not reveal this information to anyone else outside of the PDC without an individual’s permission, unless there is a duty of care issue.
An accessible service
The PDC is fully accessible for wheelchair users. We provide a flexible service and additional support to help students access our information and services according to their needs. Please see our Equality and Disability page for more information. We are open during usual business hours all year round except during University closure periods.
What we expect from you
Take ownership of your applications and career planning
We offer our support and expertise to empower students to take the appropriate steps for their own career planning and progression and to make their own careers decisions. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that applications are timely and realistic, and to build the skills and experience employers expect.
Use our services responsibly
In order to get the most out of the service, please attend appointments in good time and bring along any material that you have been asked to prepare. We ask you to notify us in advance if you have to cancel appointments.
Keep in touch and respond to requests for information after you graduate

All graduates will be contacted 15 months after leaving the University to find out what you have gone on to do. We ask that you respond promptly to the email inviting you to complete the Graduate Outcomes survey.
Fair Usage Policy
In order to provide a fair service to all our users we reserve the right to restrict the number of appointments booked per person based on demand and our professional opinion.
