Blind Veterans UK - Social Club Helper

Details of the Charity:

Blind Veterans UK supports anyone who has served in the Armed Forces, or who has done National Service, and who is now living with significant sight loss. We help blind ex-Service men and women lead independent and fulfilling lives by supporting them with our in-depth expertise, experience and full range of services.

We give veterans much-needed support to adjust to sight loss, overcome the challenges of blindness and enjoy daily life. Our charity has been offering physical and emotional support to vision-impaired veterans since 1915.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

Our lunch and social clubs provide crucial social interaction for our veterans, who often feel isolated or lonely. This is their chance to get together, meet other blind veterans and have a good old chat over some great food.
We are looking for a very organised volunteer, with a great sense of teamwork and leadership. Someone who is helpful, not afraid of a little hard work and has an understanding of older visually impaired people’s needs.
We’d like to find someone confident enough to coordinate the lunch clubs in Bromley: from dealing with our existing venue, helping with the invites, arranging transport for our veterans and making sure everything runs smoothly and a good time is had by all on the day.

We also like to hear any ideas for branching out into other regular activates in the Bromley area as we are sure our group of veterans would like to do more. Does this sound like you? If you have a flair for organisation and for throwing interesting parties and activities please get in touch.
