The Felix Project - Co-driver



Details of the Charity:

The Felix Project is a London-based charity that rescues good food that cannot be sold and would otherwise go to waste. We collect or receive food from suppliers, including supermarkets, wholesalers, farms, restaurants and delis. We sort and then deliver this food to charities that cook meals and prepare food parcels for vulnerable people and to primary schools to distribute to children and their families.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

  • Accompanying the driver on routes
  • Using the SatNav
  • Calling charities and suppliers ahead of arrival
  • Acting as an ambassador for the Felix Project
  • Helping to load and unload the van
  • Recording the number of crates per drop off and pick up 
  • Recording the chiller temperature at every drop off and pick up
  • Helping to unload the van at the end of shift and sorting produce

Skills Required:

  • Aged 21 or over
  • No more than 6 points on your license
  • Driving for over a year 
  • A Driver's Assessment will be carried out before your first shift 

Additional Benefits:

  • Once you've signed up as a volunteer, you can pick the shifts that suit you
  • Hours volunteered will be recorded on your HEAR - which goes on your permanent university record
  • All hours contribute toward the Brunel Volunteers Award, which leads to an invitation to the Brunel Volunteers Awards Ceremony
