Friends of the Great Barn at Harmondsworth - Steward (Visitor Support)

Details of the Charity:

The Friends of the Great Barn at Harmondsworth are a non-profit-making group with the following objectives:

  • To secure the preservation, maintenance and upkeep of the Barn and environs as a heritage building and for community use
  • To ensure and promote access to the Barn for the general public
  • To promote and disseminate information on the history of the Barn and its environs
  • To provide advice and assistance to the owners of the Barn (now English Heritage) in the management of the Barn and its site

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

  • Christmas market      Sunday 5/12/21
  • Christmas Concert     Saturday 18/12/21
On both days we need extra volunteers to help manage the event. They will assist regular volunteers to manage parking on site, ensure visitor safety and answer general queries. The beginning and end of the time is to help in getting ready beforehand and clearing up afterwards, helping with tasks like moving tables and chairs.

Skills Required:

  • Confident in talking to visitors
  • Good listener
  • Prepared to use own initiative
  • Team player
  • An interest in local history would be a bonus, but is not a requirement!
