Hillingdon Adult Learning - Classroom Assistant



Details of the Charity:

Hillingdon Adult and Community Learning is the adult learning service for the London Borough of Hillingdon. We deliver government funded learning for adults aged 19+. We offer a wide curriculum from entry level English and maths to level 3 vocational courses. We also run courses to improve emotional health and wellbeing and courses for adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. We work in four centres across the borough and many outreach locations in partnership with community organisations.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

A classroom assistant volunteer commits at least two hours per week to assist in a particular class on a weekly basis. They support learners in the class under the direction of the tutor. Opportunities are available in a range of subjects, venues, days and times.

Skills Required:

  • English at Functional Skills Level 1 or above

Additional Benefits:

  • Travel expenses reimbursed - to a maximum of £4.50 per day and by cheque.
  • Free training on inductory teaching courses.
  • Hours volunteered will be recorded on your HEAR – which goes on your permanent university record.
  • All hours contribute towards your Brunel Volunteers Award, which leads to an invitation to the Brunel Volunteers Awards Ceremony in May.
