Details of the Charity:


Hillingdon Triathletes is a sports club based in Uxbridge. Founded in 1986, the club encourages people to take part in sport, in particular multi sports – swimming,cycling and running or any combination of those three disciplines. The club has in the region of 200 members ranging in ages from 14 to 75. The club also welcomes people of all abilities from complete novice to seasoned athletes and those going on to represent GB at age group level on the international stage. Training sessions are organised on various days of the week and the swim and run sessions are based in Uxbridge. The club also host numerous events and races throughout the year – incorporating a variety of formats and distances,so as to appeal to a wide audience. 

Hillingdon Triathletes are governed externally by a national body known as British Triathlon. Internally as a club there is a committee that oversee the structure and governance of the club. 

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

The Marketing and Advertising Coordinator will have three main areas of responsibility:

  1. Community management (public relations) on social media – managing the profile of the club and assisting in attracting new members to the club;
  2. Copyright and content production, as well as event management on the club’s website and social media outlets;
  3. Communicate with club members via social media.

The role will be based remote from the club, so can be undertaken at the University campus, or other location of your choosing. If regulations allow, then there may be the occasional face to face meeting, which would take place in Uxbridge or the Uni campus. Hours would be flexible, due to the volunteer’s work commitments but an average of 2 to 4 hours per week would give an indication of the workload.

 There will be one or more points of contact within the club for the volunteer to liaise with. The contact is most likely to be an existing committee member.

Skills Required:

Excellent standard of written English.

Good working knowledge of social media platforms, those current and those emerging.

To be able to advise the club point of contact on progress and obstacles that may be encountered on this project whilst advising on potential solutions.
