Horn of Africa Youth Association- Office Administrator

Details of the Charity:

Horn of Africa Youth Association (HAYA) established in 2004 and is one of the leading organisations providing services through advice, opportunities for positive engagement through recreational activities and providing employment and training opportunities in London.

Aim of the organisation:

  •   To promote   the benefits of persons of Horn of African origin, by associating together with local authorities, voluntary and other organizations in a common effort to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare with the objects of   improving the conditions of life.
  •  To advance the education of the public in general about ethnic minority groups, in   particular by promoting and developing better relations between parents,   pupils and school teachers etc”.


Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:


  • Organise meetings, prepare minutes and act as minute secretary when required.
  • To maintain an efficient filing and communication system.
  • To priovide a computer based service for staff as required/
  • To provide a computer based service for staff as required
  • To provide inputting service for our clients based database system
  • To keep up-to-date records of staff attendance including sickness, annual leave and lateness.
  • To effectively administrate own workload. 
  • E-mailing and writing letters/ Filing and labelling.
  • Making telephone calls/ organising the office
  • Data entry/ newslteer and publicity material


  • To provide an accounting service i.e. check validity of bills making sure all invoices are processed on time and sent to/ for processing.
  • To provide a petty cash service for HAYA, maintaing all records insuring that these are up to date and sent to Head Office for processing.



Skills Required:


  • Basic finance book-keeping
  • Computer literate: Excel, Microsoft Word, Database
  • Ability to function as part of a team.
  • Good oral and written commnical skills.


  • Experience of working in a young people's setting
  • Experience of working within the Voluntary Sector
