Not Just Football - Sports Therapist Assistant



Details of the Charity:

We are a not-for profit organisation, that offers sport, recreation and physical activities for all. We specialise in:

-          Sport and recreation education and training

-          Providing grassroots activities for hard to reach communities

-          Health activity provision for those with health related challenges/working with the NHS to offer physical activities for over 50’s

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

  • To support a sports injuries clinic at New River Sports Centre & Stadium in Wood Green N22, North London. 
  • Facilitate the treatment and rehab of Football players, Rugby players and track & field athletes who attend the centre.
  • There will be an opportunity to work alongside other student therapists and other coaches and an experienced lead Sports Rehabilitator.  

The clinic sessions, will take place in the evenings between 6pm - 8pm, Mondays to Wednesdays. 

Students can attend on whichever day they choose.  Woodford Town FC  trains at New River Sports Centre & Stadium in Wood Green N22.  There will be opportunities to cover Saturday and midweek evening matches for Woodford Town FC (currently in the Essex Senior league).

Skills Required:

  • Some experience and interest around sport, especially football. Ideally undergraduates on sports science or sports therapy degree courses would be most desirable.
  • To be available with the team during pre-match warm up preparation, be available on the bench during the games as a first aider, during half time and after the match.
  • Part of the duties will be to feedback to management to any injury and fitness concerns for the staff to address during training/clinic.
  • Someone who is proactive and can use their initiative to complete tasks. 
  • Some experience of or qualifications/modules in sports massage would be desirable, as well as some knowledge and understanding of football would be desirable and beneficial, but not essential.
