Otermans Institute - Sign Language Champion

Details of the Charity:

Ottermans Institute provides free professional development and soft skills training support to some of the most disadvantaged students mainly in the countries of Nepal, Bangladesh, and India. OI is also contracted with local governments and currently impacts 25,000+ pupils in the region.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

We at Otermans Institute are currently developing a process to support students with hearing impairments when over 7 million people in the UK alone suffer from severe hearing disabilities. We are urgently looking for students who know sign language to support us with this. The role is varied and up to individual volunteer’s strengths and interests. However, some common support tasks include actively working on deciphering sign language, data collection, data cleaning, and for some volunteers working with our sign AI model.

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of British Sign Language
