Riana- Social Media and Marketing Assistant



Details of the Charity:

Riana Development Network (RDN) promotes Community Programmes aimed at building capacity for self-reliance through people centred approach, restoring hope and harnessing their future. RDN aims to reduce the level of poverty and social exclusion  among children and women from ethnic minority and others from low income families. RDN aims to support disadvantaged people in the UK overcome poverty and inequality by supporting community integration through activities such as supplementary education, Community Allotment, Health and wellbeing courses, Global linking, Youth Mentoring Programme, increasing the quality of   education and raising awareness of the needs of BME communities.

 

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

  • Assist in providing regular content for the Charities various social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook.
  • Assist in ensuring photographs of key events are taken and posted.
  • Assist in ensuring items on the website are up to date
  • Assist in producing the monthly newsletter (training provided)
  • Work with the others to find out key events, projects or information that they would like promoting.
  • Assist (where possible) on ‘live tweeting’ of events.
  • Responding to queries via Social Media
  • Assist with the marketing of the RDN and their projects at local community events.

This would suit someone who has experience in a similar environment or someone who uses social media as a hobby and wishes to gain experience on how to develop this within the workplace.

Skills Required:

  • Have some knowledge of how social media works
  • Work well within a team and on own initiative.
  • Have clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to work with a variety of people.

Additional Benefits:

  • Hours volunteered will be recorded on your HEAR – which goes on your permanent university record.
  • All hours contribute towards the Brunel Volunteers Award, which may lead to an invitation to the annual Brunel Volunteers Awards Ceremony.
