The Access Project - Volunteer Tutor

Details of the Charity:

We support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to unlock their potential, break down barriers to accessing selective universities to transform their future career prospects.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

To tutor a young person and help them achieve the grades they need to gain access to top universities. Volunteer tutoring is part of a wider programme provided by The Access Project. What's unique about our programme is that we tackle three key barriers to higher education: not getting the grades their talent deserves, not seeing university as an option for ‘people like them’, and not having the support and guidance to make a competitive application.

Tutor a young person aged 14-18 for 1 hour a week in term-time, online, for the academic year (Autumn 2020 – Summer 2021).

Skills Required:

If you are studying towards your undergraduate degree or hold an undergraduate degree already, we would very much welcome your support to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to raise their grades so that they can fulfil their potential. Please note you’ll also need to have an A Level in the subject you wish to tutor, at grade B or above.

No prior teaching experience required - we will give you all the information and resources you'll need in our volunteer training.

Additional Benefits:

We provide an in-depth 2.5hr tutor training session and a short online safeguarding training course (CPD-accredited) before you begin volunteering with us.
