Details of the Charity:

Carers Trust Hillingdon is a local charity operating support services for unpaid carers living or caring in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The organisation aims to improve support and recognition for people who are caring for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled, or has mental health or addiction problems.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role, you will help carers with basic IT skills, and to be better at using mobile phones or laptops helping those who live far away from their loved ones to stay connected through communication platforms. As an IT Surgery, you will make a difference in people's lives while enhancing your tutoring skills.

Typical duties include:

  • Meeting a Carer and listening to their IT problems
  • Understanding how overcoming this problem can assist them in everyday life
  • Instructing them, in simple terms, on how to access the information they need or the task they wish to complete
  • Writing the steps on paper that Carer can take away

Please note, the Brunel Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
