People and Planet - Research Volunteer

Details of the Charity:

People & Planet is the largest student network in the UK campaigning for social and environmental justice. We envision a future in which spiralling inequality, instability, climate crisis and resource depletion are reversed, and a world in which the balance of power in society has fundamentally shifted to an equal world that benefits all of us.

Our mission is to build an empowered generation of change-makers who are equipped with life-long skills, motivation and networks to be a force for change in achieving a more equitable and sustainable world.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

People & Planet are currently trying to recruit volunteers to help undertake sector-wide research into the investment portfolios of UK universities.

Every year, People & Planet undertake sector-wide research into the investment portfolios of UK universities. This involves analysing the responses that universities have sent to our Freedom of Information requests, which are focused on where they invest their money. Once completed, this published research informs and shapes our work on Fossil Free and Divest Borders and is used by organisers in the People & Planet network to lead these campaigns based on the most up-to-date information available.

This year, People & Planet want to give student volunteers the opportunity to undertake this analysis alongside us.Training will be provided and no previous experience is necessary, just a curious mind, with an interest in gaining research, basic finance, and investment portfolio analysis skills.

The research will take place from Tuesday 6th December to Friday 9th December, 10am-6pm. You don't need to be able to attend for the whole 4 days - although if possible that would be ideal - but you will need to be able to join for the training session on the morning of Tuesday 6th December, from 10-1pm, to participate in any of the following research days.
