Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
To support up to 2 clients who access at least one of Attends client-based services:
- Brain Injury
- Dementia
- Stroke
- Care Homes
- Mental Health
Responsibilities:
- To arrange face to face supportive meetings with the client within the community
- To maintain regular and supportive telephone or online contact with allocated clients
- To identify problems or issues being experienced by the client and pass on relevant information to the Project Lead
- To organise trips to local places such as cafes and parks
- To provide support with accessing and attending local groups
- To help with shopping
- To signpost to other services befriend people living in care homes
- To sit with housebound people to allow their carer some time out
- To be with people who are dying at home or within the care home environment
Skills Required:
- Be friendly and helpful with an interest in local community
- Have good interpersonal skills
- Have the ability to listen and respond appropriately
- Possesses the ability to chat
- Exhibit patience and understanding with the ability to convey empathy
- Have the ability to identify and respond to varying emotions
- Have the ability to respond to clients without making assumptions or judgements
- Have the ability to maintain boundaries
- Have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Demonstrate personal stability and robustness with self-awareness and insight into own emotional needs
- Be reliable, flexible and punctual
