Dr Basaam Aweid
Medical Director - Physician Associate Programme

Summary

Dr. Basaam Aweid Qualified from St. George's University of London with a BSc in Neuroscience. He completed his Specialist medical training in General (Internal Medicine) and Geriatrics in Northwest London hospitals including Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust and Royal Free London NHS foundation Trust. He underwent a Stroke fellowship at Charing Cross hospital and now sub-specialises in Stroke medicine. He has been a Consultant Physician at The Hillingdon hospital since 2016. 

He successfully piloted and now leads the Stroke Early Supported discharge service run by Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL).

In addition to being the Medical Director for the Physician Associate MSc at Brunel, he is a keen co-ordinator of collaboration projects between the 3 organisations he works for.

Dr. Basaam Aweid is an examiner for the national exams at the Faculty of Physician Associates for the Royal College of Physicians. He is also involved in the teaching of Medical students and junior doctors.
