Corrado Macchiarelli is seconded as a Principal Economist at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) Macroeconomic Modelling and Forecasting team. At Brunel, he is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics and Finance. He completed a PhD in Economics at the University of Turin-Collegio Carlo Alberto in 2011 and holds a post-doc from the London School of Economics.
His research is on Macroeconomics, Financial Economics and European Political Economy.
During the past five years (2015-20), Corrado has been contracted to work as part of an LSE-based team of Monetary Policy Experts for the European Parliament, writing non-technical briefings to support the Parliament's quarterly hearings of the ECB President.
Corrado is also a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics' European Institute and an Adjunct Lecturer in Economics on the “International Political Economy and Global Business” degree (BSc.) at New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business in London.
During Spring/Summer 2019, he was on sabbatical leave as a Visiting Scholar in Economics at Harvard University Minda de Gunzburg Centre for European Studies.
In the past, Corrado worked as an economist for the Euro Area Macro Division of the European Central Bank (ECB), and he was a consultant to the same Division, over the period 2011-2014. He further was a PhD Trainee at the ECB's European Countries Division and at the International Monetary Fund, respectively in 2010 and 2009. He visited the Swedish Riksbank as a consultant to the Monetary Policy Division during the summer of 2015.
