Dr Giuseppe Salvia
Senior Lecturer in Design and Innovation Strategy

Summary

I am a Senior Lecturer on a research track in Design and Innovation at the Brunel Design School.

Since 2008, I have been developing research in international multi-disciplinary consortia which addressed dynamics of innovation for sustainable production and consumption, especially with respect to how society and technology shape each other.

The main research and teaching topics include:

  • User behaviour and social practices, especially in relation to sustainable innovation through ethnographic approaches;
  • Strategies for improving the social and environmental performance of products-services systems through participatory and collaborative design.

I am interested to partner with my social and technical expertise in projects intended to understand and make a change towards contemporary challenges, most notably including climate change and carbon emission reduction, net zero strategies, energy efficiency and fuel poverty.

Finally, I am author of over 50 publications, organiser of international conference and events, co-founder and member of research networks on repair, invited speaker and reviewer.
