Summary

Kavita graduated in 2020 from her BSc in biomedical sciences with First-class honours from Brunel University. Her passion for antibiotic resistance stems from her undergraduate thesis, which focused on how the world’s deadliest multidrug-resistant bacteria, Acinetobacter baumannii, can evolve resistance to our last resort antibiotic, colistin. Kavita is now continuing her research as a PhD student in the McCarthy lab. Currently, she is focused on the discovery of novel plant-based compounds, that can aid in the emerging antibiotic resistance crisis that is sweeping through our hospitals worldwide.
